Bear Valley Parents Group

Bear Valley Parents Group is a 501(c)3 formed in 2005 by local parents to serve the needs of children ages 0-18 and the adult population in the secluded mountain community of Bear Valley.

The Bear Valley Parents Group is led by a 6 member Board of Directors, all who are parents of locally schooled children.  These area residents seek to create a meaningful and diverse community experience in a town whose population swells seasonally with tourists and our of area employees.  The BVPG is a crucial link between Alpine County and one of its westernmost towns, and is the only family-focused organization in Bear Valley.  Through it, parents and community members work collectively to ensure access to healthy family activities.

What we do

BVPG operates Bear Valley Summer Day Camp, an 8 week day camp for 3 – 16 year olds that runs during the summer months.  Through this program the BVPG strives to provide healthy activities for families that create and foster the skills necessary to make healthy choices in their individual lives.

The Armchair Adventure Series is a monthly alchol and drug free gathering open to, and featuring, community members.  The presentations encourage positive bonding between adult and youth, as well as promoting healthy lifestyle choices.   These social events are open to all, and foster a social support system for community members while combating attitudinal norms surrounding substance abuse.

The BVPG provides both a pre-school and after school recreation program for full time local children and families, also grant funded and tuition based.

The Soap Box Derby is an exciting  fundraising activity for BVPG and an annually anticipated, fun family participatory event.  All proceeds from the Soap Box Derby go back into the community.
